Kanye West’sDonda sequel is officially around the corner. Just weeks after Pusha T’s manager Steven Victor revealed work on the album had begun, Kanye has announced its release date.

On Thursday (January 27), the Chicago rap icon took to Instagram to confirm Donda 2 is dropping on February 22. What’s more, the album is being executive produced by Future.

“DONDA2 COMING 2 22 22 EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY FUTURE,” Ye wrote along with an image of a billboard styled as a burning house, a nod to the replica of his childhood home he set alight during his Donda listening session in Chicago last summer.

Further details surrounding Donda 2 remain scarce, but Kanye West has teased a collaboration with Memphis rap star Moneybagg Yo, requesting his vocals for a song via text earlier this month.

Ye has also been spotted in the studio with the likes of Pusha T, A$AP Rocky, The Game, Big Sean, Fivio Foreign, Hit-Boy, Scarface, DJ Khaled, will.i.am and NFL star Antonio Brown in recent weeks.

Future’s involvement in the album was hinted at by Kanye’s new girlfriend Julia Fox earlier this month when she revealed the G.O.O.D. Music founder and Atlanta trapper have been working on “fucking insane” music.

The pair previously linked up on “I Won” in 2014, while Kanye hijacked Future’s Rolling Loud California set in December 2021 and freestyled over “Fuck Up Some Commas.”

Donda 2‘s February release will come less than six months after the arrival of the first installment last August, marking the quickest album turnaround of Kanye West’s career. The project will debut the same day as Ye’s newly-announced Yeezy x Skid Row Fashion Week collaboration, which aims to help tackle the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles.

Ye’s 10th studio release, Donda debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after achieving 309,000 album-equivalent units in a truncated opening week and has since been certified platinum. The sprawling, 27-song effort boasted appearances from the likes of JAY-Z, Lil Baby, Playboi Carti, Kid Cudi, The Weeknd, Pop Smoke, Lil Durk and Young Thug, as well as controversial cameos from DaBaby and Marilyn Manson.

A deluxe edition featuring three additional tracks — including the André 3000-assisted “Life of the Party” — followed in November 2021.

Donda‘s rollout campaign was marked by three stadium-status listening sessions across Atlanta and Chicago, although it remains to be seen if Kanye has similar theatrics up his sleeve for the forthcoming sequel.
