Fresh off securing his second No. 1 album in DS4EVER, Gunna finally reveals why one of the album’s biggest collaborations was saved for the deluxe edition.
In an interview with Complex, the Atlanta rapper detailed why “P Power,” his highly anticipated collaboration with Drake, didn’t drop with the original collection of songs, chalking it up to clearance issues.
“I originally sampled Donna Summer,” Gunna says of the record. “I don’t even know her, because I’m so young. But she was a legend and her estate couldn’t get back in time for my album.”
The record ultimately helped contribute to the takeover of the letter “P” in Hip Hop, with Kim Kardashian, social brands all getting in on the fun. Sauce Walka, who has widely called out Atlanta for picking up slang from Houston such as “drip” and “sauce,” called out Gunna for appropriation.

Gunna’s rise to No. 1 has already got his peers looking to re-tool for their taste of Billboard chart supremacy. 21 Savage, who appears on the DS4EVER single “thought i was playing,” revealed it was time to get back in album mode after rattling off a stellar string of features in 2021.
“No album in a year and a half tho…it’s time,” he wrote on Twitter on Thursday (January 20).
Gunna may be fighting hard to maintain his No. 1 spot on the chart. Aside from The Weeknd’s Dawn FM still holding firm in terms of streams, the soundtrack to Disney’s Encanto looks to reclaim its spot at the summit.
