BheBheBoyz strikes again!
The Pinoy rap group shares their latest comic take on today’s biggest local hits. This time, they shared their parody version of Flow G and Bugoy na Koykoy’s 2021 hit, “Stig” (short for the slang astig, an inversion of the Tagalog word “tigas” which means “hard” or “tough”).
Whereas “Stig” refers to the typical macho image of street-hardened men, BheBheBoyz’s Boy Maton, Shaboy, Kenjo, Kritiko, Colli Tigsa, and Bj Prowel’s “SLEEP” is all about being sleep-deprived after prowling outdoors looking for inuman (drinking) sessions, also serving as a dig to cheapskates. “Halatang hindi nag-sleep / Kasi alak na ang trip / San ka ba nyan nakagets / Dun sa kabilang street” (It’s obvious you didn’t get sleep / Tripping on alcohol / Where did you score that? / Over there, next street), goes the hook.
Released yesterday (January 18), “SLEEP” is the group’s first parody of the year. BheBheBoyz follows the long tradition in Pinoy rap of releasing parody versions of hit songs, whether it’s local or a chart-topping foreign track. Actor-comedian Michael V. is one of the most famous artists who has had a long career doing parody songs a la Weird Al Yankovic.

Last year, BheBheBoyz released a number of hit parody versions—both of the actual song and video) of Ex Battallion’s “Yearly” (as “Beerly”—with Ex-B’s Titus Cee finding the parody hilarious), Abra and Chito Miranda’s “Diwata” (as “Timawa”), and 1096 Gang’s “PAJAMA GANG” cypher (as “BALATUBA DISS Pampam uno and Tilapyang Batanggas”).
