It seems like Jay Park is getting a full-circle moment soon.
The Korean-American artist is reportedly in talks with Seoul-based Kakao Entertainment to launch a K-pop group under a new label. According to local outlet allkpop, a representative from Kakao Entertainment “vaguely stated” on January 11 that the company is “seeking to diversify its business in the music distribution market through numerous partnership opportunities, and it’s true that we are in the process of discussing possibilities for a business partnership with Jay Park. However, the exact details have yet to be confirmed.”
The rumors follow Jay Park’s year-end announcement that he’s stepping down as the CEO of AOMG and H1GHR Music, where he led some of the most prominent South Korean and Korean-American hip hop and R&B artists, including GOT7’s JAY B and Yugyeom.

In response to the reports, Kakao Entertainment’s representative also referenced Jay Park’s own K-pop history as a member of 2PM, where he debuted in 2008. “Just like JYP Park Jin Young successfully [created] a large number of idol groups with his colors, Jay Park will be able to bring a new wave to the music industry by producing idols with his own style,” according to another local outlet soompi.
