To close out his year as one of HipHopDX’s Rising Stars, 42 Dugg announced that he will be taking a break from social media.
“I’ll be back,” Dugg wrote in big letters across a black background on his Instagram story. He added in the caption that the break from socials was so he could ring in the new year with his family.
“Taking this time to be with my family,” he wrote in the caption. “But WHEN I COME BACK,ima show why WE CANTBEFUCKEDWIT.”

The Detroit rapper has had a year of ups and downs. He faced a federal gun possession charge but was able to avoid jail time, and was in some hot water with his fans last Sunday (December 12) when he chose to skip his Rolling Loud California set in favor of Lil Baby’s birthday party in Atlanta.
“I wanna apologize to all my fans in la who came to see me today but for reasons out of my control and rolling louds but I will not be performing today ima take this time to reflect on my bad decision making and hopefully I’ll see y’all soon,” he wrote on Twitter.
The Lil Baby & Friends birthday concert took place at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. In addition to 42 Dugg, Baby also hung out with Gucci Mane, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Lil Durk, Meek Mill, Gunna, MoneyBagg Yo, City Girls, EST Gee and Latto. Dugg hit the stage with Baby hit the stage together to perform their multi-platinum hit “We Paid.”

In better news, Dugg also released his fourth mixtape Free Dem Boyz this year, which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, and No. 8 on the Billboard 200. He followed it up with a deluxe edition at the end of August.
