The Weeknd has been putting in work on his upcoming fifth studio album The Dawn and fans are excited to hear what the Toronto crooner is cooking up. Thankfully, The Weeknd has a preview for them in the form of his new cover story with Billboard.
On Tuesday (November 23), Billboard unleashed their latest interview where the “Take My Breath Away” singer speaks on many things, including the upcoming album. According to The Weeknd, The Dawn is going to be an interesting ride for fans.
“Picture the album being like the listener is dead,” he told Billboard. “And they’re stuck in this purgatory state, which I always imagined would be like being stuck in traffic waiting to reach the light at the end of the tunnel.
“And while you’re stuck in traffic, they got a radio station playing in the car, with a radio host guiding you to the light and helping you transition to the other side. So it could feel celebratory, could feel bleak, however, you want to make it feel, but that’s what The Dawn is for me.”

The Weeknd’s music is usually dark, but for this go-around, he’s really experimenting. In terms of production, fans will get a little taste of everything that somehow meshes well together.
“You’ll hear EDM, hip-hop, and three other types of sounds in one song—and somehow, we make it work,” he added.
While fans wait for the project that still doesn’t have a release date, The Weekend celebrates a monumental accomplishment. As of Tuesday, his smash hit “Blinding Lights” became the number one song on Billboard’s Greatest Songs of All Time Hot 100 Chart for it’s incredible run the last two years.
