Moneybagg Yo has been one of many Memphis rappers carrying the torch for the city’s Hip Hop scene alongside the likes of Yo Gotti, Pooh Shiesty, Blac Youngsta, Key Glock and the late Young Dolph. The Gangsta’s Pain artist now appears in Nike’s new basketball commercial alongside Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, who joins fans in preaching that nothing is impossible for the city of Memphis.

“Defy expectations like @JaMorant and the city of Memphis,” Nike Basketball wrote in an Instagram caption. “Whether you want to lead your team to victory, or put your city on the map, bring your vision to life by being dedicated to what moves you and ignoring those who don’t get it.”

Ja Morant and Moneybagg Yo are close friends and took part in a Billboard interview together in August, where they talked about proudly representing Memphis.

“I feel like for me, it’s just getting the guys back to where they been when Z-Bo and those were playing, trying to win a Championship,” the NBA star said. “I love having that weight on my shoulders, that pressure. I feel like that’s when I’m at my best. I just work, man, for the city of Memphis. That’s what we’re going for.”

Moneybagg Yo added, “I’ve got a lot of responsibly. It’s Memphis, most definitely, you know I’m putting on for the city. But it’s like, I’ve got real personal responsibilities. I’ve got kids, I’ve got baby mamas, I’ve got people that have been with me since day one. When I first started, I was doing it for them, but now it’s like, I’m a real big influence, I’m a real role model, So I’m doing it for the city of Memphis and I’m doing it for the world now.

“I love having it on my back. Like, me and Ja together doing this, you got sports and you got Hip Hop, you got entertainment. On both sides you can’t stop us, we on top.”

Moneybagg Yo released his latest album A Gangsta’s Pain in April, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. A deluxe version arrived in October with seven new tracks and guest appearances from Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Lil Durk, Ashanti, Yung Bleu and EST Gee.
