Media personalities Rory and Mal were unceremoniously fired from The Joe Budden Podcast in May, giving the duo an opportunity to move forward without their dogmatic co-host. After launching the New Rory & Mal podcast in July, they announced they’d signed a deal with SiriusXM Stitcher earlier this month.
While details were scarce, Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke shared a meme suggesting the deal was worth $10 million. But Akademiks, who used to co-host Everyday Struggle with Joe Budden, evidently finds that number preposterous. Speaking to No Jumper, Akademiks fired a few shots in Rory and Mal’s direction.
“Do you think anything the two stooges could do in business anywhere could shit on anything I’ve got going on?,” he asked. “If they got $10 million, I got 30.”
On October 18, Budden shared a few thoughts on his Instagram Stories and subtly threw a little jab their way without mentioning their names with, “They’ll question your character once you stop taking care of them.”

In an interview with Vulture, Rory and Mal talked about where things truly went left with Budden.
“There were a lot of things we wanted to do in the old show that we weren’t able to because we just didn’t have as much control after a while,” Mal said. “Looking back, that was the beginning of the end. Honestly, all that started when every time we wanted to try something, the energy around it would just be like, ‘Ehh, I don’t know.’
“Despite the fact that this is our show, you know what I mean? “And then there were also a lot of business meetings that were happening that we didn’t know about.”
