Los Angeles, Ca

Canadian rapper Top5 — born Hassan Ali — has been on the run avoiding murder charges north of the border since May but was apprehended by police in Los Angeles on Thursday (October 7), according toCBC.

Top5’s charges were upgraded to first-degree murder for his alleged role in connection to the death of 20-year-old Hashim Omar Hashi. Hashi was shot multiple times entering a North York parking garage the night of January 31 and died at the scene.

Top5 was originally arrested on accessory to murder charges in February but released on bail in late March and then remained on house arrest until he cut his ankle monitor off once the charges were upgraded in May to first-degree murder and three counts of failure to comply with bail.

The Los Angeles Police Department reportedly made the arrest using a provisional American arrest warrant. Top5 hasn’t remained quiet while fleeing Canadian authorities.
