Swizz Beatz is very proud of the Verzuz platform he built alongside Timbaland. During an Instagram Live earlier this week with Timbo recounting The Isley Brothers and Earth Wind and Fire battle, the “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” producer declared Verzuz to be the “new [Saturday Night Live].”
Swizz took things a step further, claiming they’ve already surpassed the NBC late-night staple, even though Verzuz doesn’t seem to be a direct competitor of SNL.
“We bigger than that,” Swizz Beatz proclaimed. “Our numbers beat SNL already. Our numbers is bigger than SNL. That’s not even, like, cap. That’s real talk. It’s already happening.”
Instead of trying to imagine where The Isley Brothers/Earth Wind and Fire battle ranks in the Verzuz pantheon, The Bronx native prefers to just celebrate the artists joining together for our entertainment.

“It’s not about the best Verzuz,” Swizz said. “It’s about celebrating the creative. So some nights we gonna have the Super Bowl, some nights we gonna have the Pro Bowl, some nights we gonna have the Rose Bowl. But we’re gonna have a good time.”
Next on tap is the weed-friendly April 20 special between Method Man and Red Man. Following their bout, ’90s R&B groups SWV and Xscape will match up on Saturday (May 8) at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET to continue Season 2.
In March, Verzuz announced the platform had been acquired by the Triller Network. The Grammy-winning producers will also be joining Triller to help oversee their music department. As part of the deal, the duo is passing a portion of their equity stake to all of the artists who have previously appeared on Verzuz.
