October gets off to a fast start as the first New Music Friday of the month is loaded with star power. The high-profile releases include 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode II, Westside Gunn’s long-awaited Shady Records debut, YG’s latest album and the return of Bryson Tiller.

The lineup also features Lupe Fiasco trying his hand at trap rap and Sa-Roc dropping her first studio LP for Rhymesayers Entertainment. Smoke DZA, Willie The Kid, Giveon and Larry June round out the notable Hip Hop and R&B artists dropping projects this week.

21 Savage & Metro Boomin – Savage Mode II

21 Savage has reconnected with Metro Boomin for Savage Mode II, the highly anticipated sequel to 2016’s acclaimed Savage Mode. The duo’s second project together is bigger than its predecessor, boasting 15 tracks as opposed to the original’s nine cuts.

Westside Gunn – Who Made The Sunshine

Westside Gunn’s first solo album for Eminem’s Shady Records has finally arrived. Who Made The Sunshine features contributions by Black Thought, Slick Rick, Just Blaze, Alchemist, Jadakiss, Stove God Cook$ and more along with his Griselda Records labelmates Conway The Machine, Benny The Butcher, Daringer, Armani Caesar and Boldy James.

YG – My Life 4Hunnid

YG has released My Life 4Hunnid, which the Def Jam Recordings artist says is influenced by Tupac Shakur. The West Coast rapper’s fifth studio album includes assists from Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Gunna, Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign and Lil Tjay, among others.

Bryson Tiller – Anniversary

Bryson Tiller’s new album Anniversary has a fitting title since it arrives exactly five years after his breakthrough debut Trapsoul. Drake makes the lone guest appearance on the RCA Records singer’s third LP.

Lupe Fiasco & Soundtrakk – TAPE TAPE

Lupe Fiasco experiments with making trap music on TAPE TAPE, a collaboration with his longtime producer Soundtrakk. The two-track bundle drops just a few months after the veteran MC teamed with producer Kaelin Ellis on July’s HOUSE EP.

Sa-Roc – The Sharecropper’s Daughter

Sa-Roc gets her long-overdue turn in the spotlight on her Rhymesayers debut The Sharecropper’s Daughter, which sees her trading bars with the likes of Black Thought and Styles P. The majority of the album is produced by Sol Messiah, but Evidence and Al B Smoov handle the beat on “Deliverance.”

Smoke DZA – Homegrown

Smoke DZA keeps his foot on the gas pedal with a new LP titled Homegrown. The Harlem-bred rapper gets help from Big K.R.I.T., Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Jack Harlow, Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Jadakiss and more on the 10-song set.

Willie The Kid – Capital Gains

Willie The Kid is back with Captial Gains, an album produced by Alchemist, Evidence, DJ Muggs and VDon, among others. Roc Marciano, Action Bronson, Curren$y, Eto, Kiyana and Tekh Togo appear on the 10-track LP.

Giveon – When It’s All Said & Done

Epic Records artist Giveon, who garnered attention for his appearance on Drake’s “Chicago Freestyle,” comes through with an EP titled When It’s All Said & Done. The project is a brief listen with just four tracks and a total runtime of 11 minutes.

Larry June & Harry Fraud – Keep Going

Larry June has joined forces with producer Harry Fraud for Keep Going, a 10-track collaboration. The duo’s new project contains guest spots by Curren$y, Dom Kennedy, Jay Worthy and Herm Lewis.

Yung Bleu – Love Scars

Boosie Badazz’s artist Yung Bleu has delivered his Love Scars: The 5 Stages Of Emotions EP. Brooklyn Love, the project’s lone guest, contributes vocals to the closing cut “You’ll Be Sorry.”
