It’s album season for Big Sean, and he’s pulling out all the stops.
Sean Don got on Instagram Live with DJ Khaled on Sunday night (May 24) and ended up revealing some gems about his next project thanks to Khaled’s prodding. While discussing Detroit 2, the Def Jam rapper all but confirmed production from the late J Dilla, among other details.
“That’s my brother!” Sean said when Khaled announced Common had checked in with him. “He actually helped plug me with the J Dilla beats. So, thank you Common!”
When Khaled asked Sean to confirm the legendary producer’s on the project, the veteran MC played coy.

“I might be talking way too much,” he laughed.
Sean went on to discuss the album’s sound, explaining he experimented with a lot of different music and didn’t pigeonhole himself.
“I have motivational songs, I have turn-up songs, I got songs that help you with your workout, I got songs that’ll make you think, songs that are just fun,” he noted. “I take pride in that.”
The inaugural installment of the Detroit series was released as a mixtape in 2012 and has become a fan-favorite in Sean’s catalog. He even considers it one of his best works.
