The coronavirus pandemic has put some people in the giving spirit. On Thursday (March 26), Joe Budden hopped on Twitter to engage with some of his supporters who have been financially and physically impacted by the pandemic. Using the hashtag #IGotFiveOnIt, the State Of the Culture co-host pledged to give out $5,000 among his supporters via Cash App.

“Ok you guys, the strip clubs are closed which means 3 things.. 1. I’m bored 2. My IG looks a lot better without those stupid flyers. & 3. I’m blessed to have saved a few bucks,” Budden tweeted. “I’d much rather give it to y’all since the world is cold an our government is colder, here’s my idea.”

“If you send me your name, mood, where you’re from, current situation and hashtag #IGotFiveOnIt, I’m gonna divvy up 5k (for now) between a few ppl out there who may have use for it,” he continued.

Naturally, hundreds of Twitter users flocked to Budden’s account, as he retweeted users and promised to send some cash their way.

“Ok you guys, that’s my time for today… always feels great to give and actually put humanity before capitalism,” Budden wrapped up the session. “I’m gonna make Ian match me & do this again this weekend… stay strong, we got this.”

According to the US Labor Department, over 3.3 million Americans have now filed for unemployment benefits, as workers grapple with business closures in the current era of social distancing. Last week alone reportedly saw the largest spike of unemployment claims in American history, surpassing a previous record set in 1982.
