Former Definitive Jux artist C-Rayz Walz is currently behind bars at the Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center (also known as “The Boat”) as he awaits trail on a felony rape allegation.
The 44-year-old MC has been incarcerated in the Bronx jail since last December and is expected to make a court appearance on April 15. But considering the coronavirus pandemic is currently sweeping the globe and shutting down everything in its path, it’s likely his court date will be pushed back.
On Wednesday (March 18), C-Rayz’s manager Rebs K.P. issued a statement regarding the allegation.
“At this current time, C-Rayz Walz can’t discuss or comment on this allegation,” she told HipHopDX. “What I can say is that I have known C-Rayz Walz as both his manager and closest friend for six years. I have seen him devote the majority of his time to take care and provide for his son.

“Walz put his music career on the back burner in order to be the best father he could be. Walz knows what it is like to grow up without a father figure, and also what a perilous time it is to be a black man in America.”
K.P. added, “His family and friends know who he is, what he represents and what kind of father he has been. He spreads knowledge and positivity, both through his music and community involvement.
“Walz is a caring person and has always been committed to teaching and uplifting the youth and especially to his son. That is the C-Rayz Walz I know and love.”
While K.P. couldn’t directly address the specifics of the case, she made it clear he maintains his innocence.

“The Boat” is housed in an 800-bed jail barge used to hold inmates and anchored off the Bronx’s southern shore near Hunts Point and run by warden Linda Griffin. C-Rayz’s management is currently running his Instagram account and can communicate there. Those looking to support him can head here.
