Oklahoma City, OK

According to a new update from Kodak Black’s lawyer, the rapper is “doing well” after transferring prisons and working on a new project. Attorney Bradford Cohen shared the news in an Instagram post on Monday (January 27) after visiting his client at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City.

“Flew up for the day to Oklahoma to see Kodak Black he’s doing well,” Cohen wrote. “As I have done for many of my clients that I want to check on. The FDC Oklahoma counselors and managers went put of their way to accommodate a visit on an off day and with short notice.”

The update arrives two weeks after Kodak made numerous allegations against the Miami Federal Detention Center, where he was previously held, on Instagram. He accused prison guards of denying him visitation from his girlfriend and mother, withholding medical attention from him and other inmates, tampering with his mail and giving him an empty tray for New Year’s Day breakfast.

“We will address the issues in FDC Miami in good time,” Cohen’s post continued. “It was good to see him and he was in good spirits. He is working on new projects and reading. He wants to thank all of you for the support.”

As a result of Kodak’s claims of abuse, his mother hired an attorney last week and announced her plans to sue the Federal Bureau of Prisons. She and her lawyer reportedly attempted to visit Kodak to conduct a welfare check on Wednesday (January 22) but were surprised to find out he’d been transferred from the Miami prison. TMZ reports Kodak is looking at a 2022 release date.
