It’s safe to say Birdman isn’t having the best week. After being hit with a $12 million lawsuit earlier this month, the Cash Money Records co-founder is now on the hook for another cool million.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a Florida judge has granted a default judgment against Birdman in the amount of $1,069,876. The money is being awarded to former employee Nicolas Jose Penzo who sued Birdman, Cash Money Records and Pine View Management LLC in April 2018.
Penzo claimed he worked as Birdman’s property manager from 2015 until May 2017 painting, handling the cleaning services and coordinating with contractors, among other duties. He said Birdman agreed to pay him $150 per day.
At times, Penzo would work from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with an average of 48-60 hours a week. He claimed he was never paid properly for overtime. Penzo added his payments were inconsistent and he’d sometimes go two to three months before getting paid.

Penzo originally sued for $8,900 in unpaid wages and an additional $15,000, totaling $23,900 in damages. But despite serving Birdman with the proper paperwork, he never showed up to court.

So, Penzo went back to court seeking a default judgment. In the new motion, Penzo said Birdman now owed a total of $1,069,876.

“The Defendant gave me several checks which were returned from his bank for insufficient funds and currently owes me $30,000 in unpaid wages, not including overtime,” Penzo wrote to the judge. “I have suffered back pain due to the immense amount of work the Defendant required me to do.
“I was without work for approximately one year, suffered financially, physically, and emotionally because of the position the Defendant left me in, and therefore feel I am entitled to $1,000,000 in compensatory damages.”
Evidently, the judge agreed.
