DJ Critical Hype, who gained widespread notoriety with blend tape projects The Damn. Chronic and the follow-up More 9th, is back with his latest official mixtape Supa Dupa Link. The tape mashes up DMV natives Goldlink and Missy Elliott — who holds the top three spots on HipHopDX’s list of 20 best albums from artists who happen to be women.
“I think it’s just a dope combo,” the DJ told Audiomack during a recent interview. “I think it will help people see GoldLink in a different light … I think showcasing [Goldlink] over some of Missy’s big hits with Timbaland production could help introduce him to a different listener.”
Though the two have never officially collaborated, Goldlink did sample Elliott’s vocals from “She’s A Bitch” for the song “Spectrum,” which appears on his debut album After That, We Didn’t Talk.
This release is the follow-up to 2018’s Wu-Chainz — a meticulous blend of 2 Chainz vocals and Wu-Tang Clan instrumental — a tape that was lauded by RZA himself.”

Next up for the Vancouver-based DJ is a mash-up of J. Cole vocals and Neptunes beats called In Search Of… Cole. He tells HipHopDX the tape was going to drop in July but has been delayed until (probably) September. He’s been waiting on Dreamville in an attempt to get his hands on additional studio acapellas to make the project even better.
