Christian-leaning rapper NF soared above the competition with his new album The Search, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the week ending August 1.

The project narrowly surpassed Chance The Rapper’s debut album The Big Day,which settled at No. 2.

Elsewhere on the chart, Young Dolph and Key Glock’s joint effort Dum & Dummer landed in the Top 10, while YBN Cordae’s The Lost Boy made its debut in the Top 15.

Meanwhile, Comethazine’s Bawskee 3.5 barely missed a Top 50 debut at No. 53, while E-40’sPractice Makes Paper hobbled onto the chart at No. 65 with 10,277 total album equivalent units, 3,627 pure album sales and a streaming count of 8,041,348.

The Result

28-year-old Michigan native NF has secured his second No. 1 album with The Search. First week sales include 129,574 total album equivalent units with 84,488 of those coming from pure album sales. A streaming count of 58,367,203 helped push The Search to the coveted spot.

His recent video for “Leave Me Alone,” which was released on July 25, has already racked up over 9 million views.

NF’s 2017 effort, Perception, also hit the chart at No. 1 upon its release with roughly 55,000 total album equivalent units sold in its initial week.

The Big Day Is Here

Lil Chano’s self-described debut album, The Big Day, has made its grand entrance at No. 2 with 108,093 total album equivalent units, 27,057 pure album sales and a streaming count of 103,966,690.

Aside from a collaborative mixtape with Jeremih called Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama, Chance hasn’t released a proper project since 2016’s Grammy Award-winning mixtape Coloring Book.That effort debuted at No. 8 on the chart based on 57.3 million streams, marking the first time a project had charted with streams only.
