Those participating in Megan Thee Stallion’s Hot Girl Summer have some competition. On Thursday (July 18), Future ignited a rivalry by tweeting his own “Hot Boys Summer” playlist on Spotify.
“Check out my #HotBoySummer Playlist on @Spotify,” he wrote.
Megan had already declared summer 2019 as “Hot Girl Summer” when she dropped her Fever album this May.
So unsurprisingly, the Houston-bred rapper quickly followed up Future’s playlist with her own, tweeting, “Hey HOT GIRLS here’s my HOT GIRL SUMMER play list on @Spotify,” on Friday (July 19.)

During an interview with The Root last month, Megan explained “Hot Girl Summer” is an inclusive term that aims to encourage both men and women.
“It’s just basically about women and men being unapologetically them,” she said. “Just having a good-ass time, hyping up your friends, doing you, not giving a damn about what nobody gotta say about it.”
Meg defined the term again earlier this week, tweeting, “Bein a Hot Girl is about being unapologetically YOU, having fun, being confident, living YOUR truth, being the life of the part etc.”
Future’s Hot Boy Summer playlist includes 50 songs, while Megan’s clocks in at 64. Both have several tracks in common, including Megan’s “Cash Shit” featuring DaBaby and “The London” by Young Thug, J. Cole and Travis Scott.
The Hot Girl Summer playlist currently boasts 103,545 followers, nearly twice the number of followers the Hot Boy Summer playlist has collected.

Despite being a gender-neutral term, Hot Girl Summer has been hit with not only the competing playlist but also the wave of its male counterpoint hashtag, #CityBoyz.
