After being charged with two felony accounts of gun
possession by a felon and sale or transportation of marijuana this past Monday,
April 10th (see: Snoop Hit
With Gun and Drug Charges
), Snoop
Dogg
pleaded no contest to avoid Jail Time.

Had the case gone to trial, the rapper faced up to four
years in a state prison.

“Snoop accepts
full responsibility for these matters … He understands that, while he has every
reason to seek security and protection, he cannot have a gun in his own
vehicle, and he must only employ licensed security personnel. By the same
token, although Snoop possesses a medical marijuana certificate, he recognizes,
he cannot possess more marijuana than permitted by that law,”
said his
attorney Donald Etra.

While Snoop
avoids prison, he was sentenced to five years probation and 800 hours of
community service (400 in which can be served through Snoop’s youth football league).

“Snoop
appreciates the courtesy and cooperation extended to him by the Los Angeles
District Attorney’s Office, which was very helpful in resolving these
matters,”
Etra stated.
