Lil Peep’s death not only cut short his ascendent run in music but also a potential film career. The late artist was in talks for a movie role prior to his passing, according to director Sebastian Jones.
Jones, who co-directed the Peep documentary Everybody’s Everything, told Variety about his interest in casting the cult rapper in a film. Jones said he met Peep, whose real name was Gustav Ahr, at a show in Texas just three days before Peep died.
“I was at one of his shows, and I was so taken by him,” he noted. “I wanted to cast him in a movie. We were reaching out to him, and he passed away.”
Who Exactly Was Lil Peep?
Jones, who is a collaborator of Academy Award-winning director Terrence Malick, intended to cast Peep in his first feature film. The movie is scheduled to be Jones’ next project.

Ramez Silyan, the other director behind the Everybody’s Everything documentary, confirmed Peep’s interest in acting.
“Gus wanted to be an actor and he had ‘it,'” Silyan told Variety. “He just had this thing … he wanted to do all sorts of things.”
Everybody’s Everything made its debut at the 2019 South By Southwest Festival on Sunday (March 10). Additional screenings will air on Tuesday (March 12) and Thursday (March 14).
Peep passed away on November 15, 2017. The cause of death was an accidental overdose of fentanyl and Xanax.
