This week in Hip Hop, Meek Mill released Championships, his first album since being released from prison. Also, 50 Cent made a comment saying he wouldn’t mind if his 21-year-old son Marquis Jackson got hit by a bus and lastly, Tekashi 6ix9ine‘s prison stay may possibly be a little bit longer than expected.

Meek Mill Drops “Championships”

Meek Mill’s Championships was released on Friday (November 30). It’s his first album since being released from prison in April and contained many guest appearances. Drake is featured on “Going Bad” and Cardi B was tapped in for the track “On Me.”

Since Cardi B is the foe of Meek Mill’s ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj, the internet had a field day imagining Nicki’s reaction to their duet.

Drake also made sure to promote Championships on his social media this time around — since that’s really what started his beef with Meek in the first place — and even shared a funny video about their squashed beef.

So far, Championships has been met with mostly positive takes and the track “What’s Free” featuring Rick Ross and JAY-Z was the most talked about joint on the project. Listeners were quick to attribute Jigga’s verse to be a diss at Kanye West.

“No red hat, don’t ‘Michael and Prince’ me and Ye / They separate you when you got Michael and Prince’s DNA,” he can be heard spitting on the track.

This prompted JAY to come out of his two-year Twitter hiatus to address the confusion.

In response to everyone’s concern of him making such a comment about his own flesh and blood, 50 Instagrammed his feelings while promoting the sixth season of Power.

“Season6 on the way,” he wrote in the caption. “I have zero ill will towards anyone living on this Earth. The people Shaniquas son looks up to and associates with is a reflection of the negative energy he embraces towards me.

“I paid his mother $1,360,000 in support to afford him opportunities I never had. They just spent it, over the years I repeated get a job now they have to figure it out. Oh and Power season 6 is fire. I directed episode 603.”

Marquis’ mother, Shaniqua Tompkins had something to say about 50’s comment.

Court documents and wiretaps reveal that Tekashi’s team was ready to off him as they were especially mad about his Breakfast Club interview explaining why he let his entire team go.

Since Tekashi’s arrest many things have been revealed to the public. For one, the feds wiretapped a conversation between 6ix9ine’s ex-manager Kifano “Shotti” Jordan and Jamel “Mel Murda” Jones which disclose that someone from Nine Trey Bloods was responsible for the shooting at a 50 Cent video set in August.

The U.S. Attorney filed additional charges against Mel Murda for allegedly trafficking large amounts of heroin, fentanyl and MDMA.

There have also been rumors swirling that DJ Akademiks, who is fairly close to Tekashi, was one of the informants for the Feds. Akademiks has gone on record to deny talking to any government official about his relationship with Tekashi.

#DXCLUSIVES: Anderson .Paak & Megan Thee Stallion

Anderson .Paak Reveals How He Handles Creative Differences With Dr. Dre On “Soulful Sundays”

Speaking with HipHopDX’s editor-in-chief Trent Clark about Oxnard for the latest Soulful Sundays episode, Anderson .Paak shares how he and Dr. Dre settle creative differences.

“You just gotta fight for it if you really feeling it,” Paak says. “The people that he works with, he has that respect for. And if he’s putting that much time into it, he respects your opinion too. He’s not gonna put that much time into someone that he’s gotta do all the work. So, we meet each other halfway. And he’s always like, ‘Your call AP,’ at the end of the day.”
