In a new episode on Ellen Degeneres’ daytime show airing Wednesday (Nov. 28), Meek Mill made an guest appearance to reflect on his five-and-a-half-month prison stint earlier this year.
The Philadelphia MC is on a promotional tour for his comeback album Championships, which is slated for release this Friday.
After reflecting on how Meek Mill schooled Ellen in a game of ping-pong backstage before the interview, the Maybach Music rapper details how he became a fan of the comedienne’s show while incarcerated.
“It’s not a lot of good things to watch on TV,” Milly said. “They give us the basic channels. I found myself watching Ellen. Some days it was CNN and then it was Ellen.”

He explained to DeGeneres that he was sent to prison after he violated his probation after following an Instagram video of himself doing a wheelie while riding his motorcycle on a street.
“Well, then, you have should’ve posted that,” DeGeneres whimsically said.
Meek Mill then detailed the moment that he learned about his prison release on bail.
“I was watching the news and [seeing] ‘Meek Mill is up for bail,'” Meek said. “I dropped my food and jumped up in the air. I was leaving 10 minutes later. I came outside and I was kind of dizzy.”

The 31-year-old rapper detailed that he’s been on probation since he was 19, and talked about the necessary activism for criminal justice reform in America.
“A lot of these things don’t make sense and everybody knows they don’t make sense but nobody focuses on changing the system,” Meek suggested.
