Black Market Militia MC William Cooper has teamed up with American Gangster writer Mark Jacobson to make Cooper’s “Pale Horse Rider” video a reality.
It marks the first rap video in history to be released in conjunction with a major book release, Jacobson’s Pale Horse Rider: William Cooper, the Rise of Conspiracy and the Fall of Trust in America.
Both the book and video deal with life and times of author William Cooper who penned one of Hip Hop’s all-time favorite books, Behold A Pale Horse.
Jacobson is also the author of the New York Magazine piece “Return of Superfly,” the story of the Harlem drug dealer Frank Lucas. The article was the basis for the movie American Gangster starring Denzel Washington, which made working with Jacobson even that much more exciting for the Newark-based rapper.

“I am honored to be written about by Mark Jacobson,” Cooper tells HipHopDX. “Mark is such a prestigious writer and I am happy to now call him a friend. When he reached out to me about creating a song and video to pair with his book, I was immediately onboard. I am excited to do something that has never been done before, as there are not many opportunities that arise that have never been done. Furthermore, this is an important song for our times, a song that motivates people to ride for their freedoms.”
Jacobson adds, “I was working on my book Pale Horse Rider about [Milton] William Cooper — author of Behold A Pale Horse — when I met William Cooper the rapper. We hit it off. I asked him if he was interested in making a video about my book and he said that would be dope. Coop wrote a great song.”
“Pale Horse Rider” also features singer Autumn Turner and is available here.
Jacobson’s book can be purchased via Amazon.
