A few weeks back, a YouTube video showed Dr. Dre and Aftermath artist BishopLamont speaking about Detox. Claiming it would be out in late 2007.

Of course, the internet went nuts! From people claiming Detox will be the best album of the decade to others claiming that it will release in “smarch” (see: when hell freezes over).

One thing that people argued was that Dre himself didn’t say Detox was coming. Until now.

During a call into Big Boy’s Power106 radio show (in Los Angelos), Dre confirmed that the long past due album will be dropping this year.

“Trust me, this will be worth the wait, I’m trying to make this the one they remember me for. It’s a lot of pressure but I’m feeling good about it. I feel like I’m my worst critic and if I’m loving it, everyone else will,” said the Doctor. “I’m trying to put 12, 13 songs on the album. I’m not totally sure about the month but it will be definitely be out this year.”

Another argument that went on was questioning if Dr. Dre would flood his album with just G-Unit/Aftermath artists and leave out the Snoop‘s, the Nate Dogg‘s, the Devin the Dude‘s, the Jay-Z‘s, etc.

“I’m trying to get everybody that I’ve ever worked with over the years to appear on the records,” noted Dre. “There are gonna be some new guys that I’m working with, Bishop Lamont and Slim the Mobster.”
