This week, Pretty Ricky and The Dreamgirls have trouble holding on as both slip out of the top ten. Pretty Ricky takes an 8 spot dive from #5 to #13 as their album Late Night Special sells 45k, bringing their total to 240k. The Dreamgirls drop from the #7 spot to #14 wish 44k this week, rounding their sales out to 733k.

Akon is showing some great longevity on the charts with his album Konvicted in its 13th week straight in the top 10. Akon takes the #4 spot this week, with an impressive 64k sold, putting him at 1.5 million. With her self-titled album, Corrine Bailey Rae joins the platinum club as she moves another 51k, bringing her to 1.1 million, and securing the #9 spot.

Fresh off of a Grammy win is Ludacris, whose album Release Therapy won him Rap Album of the Year. The awards appear to have won Ludasome more fans, as he jumps from #70 to #65, with nearly 14k sold. To date, Release Therapy has sold 1 million.

Really surging this week are the indie rap group Gym Class Heroes, who jumped from #96 all the way to #55, with their album As Cruel as School Children selling 16k (144k overall). Jill Scott is not so lucky, as the singer’s Jill Scott Collaborations takes a dive from #12 to #50, with 17k sold this week.

Finally, it seems as if some of rap’s more established artists can’t quite hit the platinum mark. Eminem Presents: The Re-Up drops to the #48 spot, with 18k on the week (854k overall). Snoop Dogg’s Blue Carpet Treatment stumbles 10 spots to #59, bringing in 16k (767k overall).
