The always innovative Tech N9ne has returned with a new short film series titled Brightfall. The five-part cinematic adventure was inspired by the”Brightfall” track taken from Tech’s Planetalbum, which was released earlier this year.
Starring the Kansas City Hip Hop mogul, Sway Calloway and composer-actor Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious, Annabelle), Brightfall finds Tech wrestling with demons and the black ooze that has become a recurring fixture on some of his projects since 2009’sK.O.D.
“This is actually when the fight starts,” Tech explains in a press release. “I first saw it in its early stages in night service at church with my mom when I was 5 years old. Now it is all grown up like me and still following me. This is not fictional, I saw it! Now you get to see the description of my darkness through this short film. Back stories will follow.”

In a recent Instagram post, Tech explained why he chose October 26 to kick off the project. It’s all about his mama, Maude Sue Yates-Kalifah, who passed away in 2014 from complications of lupus disease.
“In 09 it was pancreatitis that hit her and almost took her away so I did K.O.D. and released it on this day!” he captioned a clip of the film. “Lupus took her shell from us but her soul is here with me as I fight the thing I think plagued my Angels life! Tonight, witness the 1st fight!”
Directed by Dale “Rage” Resteghini, Brightfall was written by David J. Schow and produced by Sean E. DeMott and Lorenzo Antonucci. The film was executive produced by Strange Music CEO Travis O’Guin and Strange Films producers Dave Weiner and Kerry Rounds.
Brightfall is available via Strange Music’s website as a $2.99 download and will be available for purchase on Amazon.com at the same price point on Monday (October 29).
