The Estate of Ol’ Dirty Bastard has sent a cease and desist letter to Lil Wayne and Young Money Entertainment, according to The Blast. The estate is reportedly upset over Weezy’s intentions of trademarking “New Dirty Bastard.”
News of Wayne’s efforts to file for the trademark surfaced in June. Last month, the attorney for the Estate of ODB and the late rapper’s daughter, Taniqua Jones, told The Blast they were “willing to work together” after learning of Young Money’s filing.
Now, the family is warning Wayne and Young Money about using the moniker. The estate reportedly tried to get in touch with Weezy about his plans for the name but never heard back. They believe “New Dirty Bastard” is a violation of their trademark and want it to be rescinded.

The estate claims the trademark will confuse consumers. According to sources close to the Wu-Tang Clan legend’s family, new ODB-related projects are in the works, causing concern about how Wayne and Young Money’s filing would affect the releases.
ODB passed away in 2004.
