Jet Life’s Fendi P (formerly known as Cornerboy P) recently dropped a new album titled Late Nights, Early Mornings. Following its May release, the New Orleans rhymer is back to premiere a video for one of its standout tracks — the Mary Gold-assisted “Dance With The Devil” on HipHopDX.

“The inspiration behind the video comes from the overall tone of the record, sort of like on some devilish playa shit,” P told DX. “By it being the first song on the album, I wanted to set the bar a little higher! Mary Gold was the right choice for the song because as soon as I recorded my verse, I heard her on it! I was like, ‘They would love it!’ They haven’t heard us together since ‘Designer Drugs.’ She’s a person that could take your record to a place you want it to be at without having to tell her. She’s dope as fuck!”

When it comes to switching his moniker from Cornerboy P to Fendi P, the veteran MC didn’t view it as any big overhaul of his brand.

“It really wasn’t much of a change if you think about it because my first project on Jet Life Recordings was Fendi P,” he noted. “People have always called me that. As I evolve more as an artist, I want to do more in and out of my community. I felt like the name swap would be just that much greater, but they know I’m still a Cornerboy!”

As he embarks on a new era of his career, P made sure to put his all into Late Nights, Early Mornings. The album features marquee names like Lil Wayne, Curren$y and Project Pat.

“The difference between Late Nights, Early Mornings and all my other projects is that I treated this like it was my kid,” he said with a laugh. “I nurtured this MF’r! Like, it’s really a great body of work. From the production to my content to the mixing and mastering, it’s all A1! So, if you haven’t checked it out, you missing out!”
