As promised, the second collaboration from DJ Muggs and DOOM has arrived. Titled “Assassination Day,” the track features Kool G Rap and serves as the follow-up to the previously released single, “Death Wish.”

On Friday (June 29), Muggs shared an Instagram video promoting the single and announcing a live record-printing event in Los Angeles. In the caption, he explained how the duo’s upcoming project, Assassination Day, will work.

“The album will be released as individual chapters with various MC’s,” Muggs explains in the caption. “Assassination Day is a thematic album with a vigilante concept where hip-hop takes corruption head-on, figuratively killing off powerful evildoers in positions of power as the story unfolds.”

Assassination Day is expected to arrive on August 3 via Soul Assassin Records. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

DJ Muggs and DOOM have teamed up for the new “Death Wish” video, which features black-and-white animation from Patric Magno and Edgar Neri.

In the brooding visual, the animated DOOM and Muggs become true vigilantes, targeting those who have killed young black men.

“Death Wish” boasts guests vocals from Freddie Gibbs, and is one of two new collaborative joints from the recently erected power duo.

Another day, another possible DOOM collab (maybe). On Wednesday (December 27), DJ Muggs posted an Instagram photo featuring a black-and-white drawing of what appears to be the Cypress Hill vet and MetalFace aka DOOM. Although only a fraction of the body is shown, DOOM’s signature mask is partially visible.

The photo was captioned, “2018 #soulassassins #djmuggs #bnardartwork.”

Soul Assassins — a collective of Hip Hop artists and graphic designers — was formed by Muggs in 1992 and includes Dilated Peoples, Prophets of Rage, La Coka Nostra and GZA. On the producer side, The Alchemist and House of Pain’s DJ Lethal are also members. The hashtag “#bnardartwork” indicates the work of freelance illustrator Bernard Rollins, who also did the art for WestsideDOOM.

The enigmatic DOOM appears to be working on collaborations with several people lately. He donated his skills to Bishop Nehru’s upcoming Elevators: Act I & IIproject and recently worked with Westside Gunn on the WestsideDOOM collab.

Meanwhile, DJ Muggs released his Gems From The Equinoxalbum with Meyhem Lauren in October and appears to be keeping busy. Earlier this month, he posted another photo with the caption, “It’s Been real NY – JUST DID 10 songs in 3 days with one of your all time favorite artists announcement coming soon this one gonna blow your wig.”
