As parts of The Gulf Coast, Florida and the Caribbean still deal with the effects of devastating hurricanes from Harvey to Irma, Hip Hop artists have stepped up in significant ways for relief efforts.
Monday night at Downtown Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom, Vic Mensa performed one of two coast-to-coast pop-up shows, in support of The Recording Academy’s MusiCares Program.
Following Mensa’s performance, HipHopDX spoke with him regarding some comments recently made with Billboard where he called out companies being responsible for one argued cause of those hurricanes, Global Warming.
“It’s hand in hand,” he said. “That’s not a part of the conversation because the powers that be don’t want that to be a conversation. These things shouldn’t the way they are way in regards to hurricanes. These multi-billion dollar corporations shouldn’t be able to put us in this fucking mess and not be able to be in this conversation.”

He also slammed current United States President Donald Trump for backing out of The Paris Climate agreement. For those out of the political loop, The Paris Climate was an agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change where participating countries plans and determine how to battle global warming.
“We can’t control hurricanes or natural disasters,” he said. “We can’t be mad at them. We can be mad at Donald Trump for removing us from the Climate Agreement.”
So far this year, Rockstar Vic has released his Roc Nation debut The Autobiography and is set to tour alongside his boss at the label, Jay Z, for the 4:44 tour.
