This week, Drake and members of OVO Sound are mourning the sudden death of friend and OVO Sound affiliate, Anthony “Fif” Soares.
According to a news report, the 33-year-old was shot multiple times at close range after walking into the lobby of a building in Scarborough, Toronto in the early hours of Thursday (September 14). He was reportedly approached by two suspects armed with handguns.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Fif’s passing was also confirmed by a childhood friend on Facebook (who identified him as Soares) and via an Instagram post made on Thursday by Drake. The Canadian rhymer shared a photo of Fif, and provided the following caption:

“RIP to one of our family members…our brother… I still can’t even believe this morning was real. It was a honor to have shared years together and I will always keep your memory alive Forever Fif”
While Fif may have been a lesser known OVO Sound affiliate, he was recently name-dropped by Drake on the rapper’s More Life record “No Long Talk.”
“Just know man like Fif, he’s a sickaz/ You get tanned, he don’t miss tings,” Drake rapped on the record.
Fif’s last Instagram post, which was uploaded on September 12, is filled with comments from those offering their condolences.
