Nicki Minaj has never been one to refrain from speaking her mind. This week, the “No Frauds” mastermind took aim at the fashion industry for marginalizing people of color while drawing influence from their culture.
Minaj was performing at the Philipp Plein Spring/Summer ’18 runway show during New York Fashion Week alongside Future, 21 Savage, Yo Gotti and Teyana Taylor. As she expressed gratitude to designer Philipp Plein, she also made it clear she believes diversity is too rarely embraced in the fashion world.
“Thank you for including our culture,” she said to huge applause from the crowd. “Designers get really big, really rich off of our culture, and then you don’t see a motherfucker that look anything like us in the front row half the time. So let’s make some noise for Philipp Plein tonight.”

The German-born Plein also shared a video on Instagram that features Minaj, Taylor, Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee, Savage and more performing on the runway as the crowd goes wild.
The audience included plenty of other major Hip Hop figures such as Fabolous and 50 Cent.
