Harris County, TX

Houston rap legend Z-Ro was reportedly released from a Harris County, Texas jail after posting a $50,000 bond, according to the Houston Chronicle. The No Love Boulevard rapper was arrested for felony aggravated assault on Wednesday (July 26) for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend — rapper Just Brittany — for hours.

The police report states the couple had plans to meet at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse on April 29, but the restaurant was closed. The pair met up at Z-Ro’s house instead, where an argument broke out after a conversation about the failed dinner date.

Z-Ro is accused of slapping, punching and dragging her around the house while holding a gun. Ninety minutes into the alleged assault, she got sick and vomited. After asking Z-Ro for permission to use the bathroom, she grabbed her cell phone and started recording.

As the alleged beating and verbal abuse continued, Z-Ro told her, “You’re dead,” as stated in the police report. Brittany asked why he’d pushed her and can be heard screaming, “Get your fucking hands from around my neck!” Police said the audio recording continued for about 21 minutes.

Houston rapper Z-Ro was reportedly arrested for domestic violence after his now ex-girlfriend, rapper Just Brittany, filed a police report with Harris County officers on Monday (July 24). According to law enforcement sources, the alleged beating went on for over two hours. The incident originally happened in April, but she evidently didn’t report it until now.

Although it’s unclear why she waited three months to make it official, she reportedly played an audio recording of the incident for the police in an attempt to make her case.

Cops wrote up a report and quickly handed it over to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. It was determined they had enough to arrest Z-Ro on Wednesday (July 26) and charge him with felony aggravated assault. He’s currently being held without bond and expected to appear in court on Thursday (July 27).

Z-Ro recently delivered his “final” album, No Love Boulevard, earlier this month and spoke with HipHopDX about his best five albums.
