2 Chainz fans were left disappointed on Wednesday night (June 7) when the fire marshal shut down his album listening party in Soho, Manhattan. The rapper took to Instagram to apologize to his fans, writing: “Fire marshall shut down my listening!!! sorry to all my fans & supporters who gotturned away.I will make up for it tomorrow!! Details comin.”
According to a report from TMZ, the rapper’s online account of things has been contradicted by the NYC Department of Buildings, which said it was its representatives who were issuing directives at the event. The report goes on to say the Department of Buildings informed promoters that the venue, ASA Gallery, was way over capacity and the show could go on if attendance was reduced to 74.
Photos from the event do show what appears to be some sort of negotiation involving 2 Chainz’ people and officials.
2 Chainz has been forced to reschedule the launch party for his album and it’s going to take place somewhere else entirely, somewhere he feels a lot more at home — Atlanta.

The release party is actually happening one day after Pretty Girls Like Trap Music is set to drop, but fans of 2 Chainz presumably won’t mind.
2 Chainz tagged “@opiumatl” in his tweet, which takes users to a pretty non-existent Twitter page, but he’s likely referring to the Opium nightclub in Atlanta.
