Vic Mensa is gearing up to release quite the album this summer, according to FakeShoreDrive’s Andrew Barber.

Barber recently had the opportunity to preview the Chicago rhymer’s debut studio full-length during a studio session.

Without delving into too much detail, he offered some insight into what fans can expect from Mensa’s debut. The FakeShoreDrive founder even went so far as to dub the album an “easy contender for album of the year.”

“It’s Vic’s BEST work to date. Better than INNANETAPE. It’s an open book & he even brings that old Roc sound back. No ID is the exec producer,” Andrew Barber tweeted Wednesday (May 31).

The project, which has been in the works for a while, will reportedly be executive produced by No I.D., and will feature musical contributions from Pharrell Williams, Chief Keef, Rivers Cuomo (of Weezer), Joey Purp, and The-Dream.

A summer release for Vic Mensa’s long-awaited debut comes after a handful of EP and mixtape releases from the rapper, including last year’s There’s A Lot Going On.
