“We already had the song in the can. I remember because we were actually working out here and we had the song in the can and then Chance’s project came out and I was like, ‘Dang,'” he told DX’s Victoria Hernandez at his LA show at The Roxy. “But it was like, man, we could have called it ‘Count It Up,’ or something like that, but I felt like it took away from that whole moment, so it was kinda like, man, it’s all love. A good song, everybody you move on. I’m just gonna troll America.”
Crystal Caines also spoke with DX after releasing her single “Fuckery (Run with Me)” featuring A$AP Ferg — someone she’s worked with for years. With DX’s Ural Garrett, she explained her working relationship with Ferg.
“I’ve been working on music since I was 16 and Ferg would come to the studio for my sessions because he was more focused on clothing at that point,” she said in an exclusive phone interview. “Then he got the opportunity from Rocky and once he got that opportunity from Rocky, he reached out to me to help him with recording. Together we made ‘Work,’ ‘Shabba’ and majority of his first album Trap Lord.”
And just in case you wanted to keep up with all of those 21 Savage clones out there, DX put together an Encyclopaedia Savagica. There’s likely more than you think. See the most notable ones here.
