There was a moment in rap history when Eminem made many foes out of mainstream pop culture. This included Mariah Carey, who supposedly dated Shady before the two went back and forth on record.
Going all the way back to “Bagpipes From Baghdad” from Em’s Relapse album and Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed” video from Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, it got really ugly.
Even Carey’s then-husband Nick Cannon took shots at Eminem on the “I’m A Slick Rick” diss record.
According to rap history, the feud ended when Slim Shady destroyed both Carey and Cannon after releasing “The Warning.”

Speaking with HipHopDX Editor-In-Chief Trent Clark, Cannon had much to say about the beef between him and Em. During the interview, he said that Shady’s status within rap didn’t bother him at all.
“We know Marshall Mathers is one of the greatest if not the greatest,” Cannon said. “If you ain’t coming to get it poppin…you gotta go. There’s a reason Hip Hop was built off of healthy competition and I’m fearless. I got fearless tattooed all over my body in a sense where I’ve never been scared of another individual. The only thing I fear is God. He and I have interesting conversations from time to time.”
From Cannon’s point of view, he did what any man would have done in his situation.
“The way the Eminem thing started was that I never had an issue with him,” he said. “If anything, I’ve been one of his biggest fans, but when another man crosses a line of disrespect, then you got to deal with it. I can’t just sit there and allow someone to disrespect my family and think there aren’t going to be any repercussions. However you want to deal with it, we can deal with it. Whether entertainment, then damn it, let’s get entertaining. If you want to deal with it in a physical or whatever, but it has to be dealt with.”
