Nelly has joined forces with the Richmond Braves. The STL rapper and the minor league baseball team are set to sponsor a celebrity softball game as reported by BET News. The game, slated to take place May 2 in Richmond, Va., will benefit Nelly’s non-profit organization, 4Sho4Kids.

Celebrities such as Gabrielle Union, Michael Vick, Shawn Barber, Clinton Portis and Ahman Green have already signed on to be a part of the festivities. The event will be hosted by local Richmond radio stations 106.5 The Beat, Q94 and >Sports 910, along with the Braves and Downtown Lockeroom.

In other Nelly news, the St. Louis rapper recently reached a settlement with a photographer who says he was assaulted by the rapper’s bodyguard during a concert in Connecticut.

Nelly agreed to pay Jerry Livingston $20,000 for the alleged attack which took place at the Arena at Harbor Yard April 12, 2005 in Bridgeport, Conn.

Livingston alleged that he was snapping photos of the rapper for the Chocolate City News when Brian Jones, the bodyguard, grabbed him by his arm and escorted him to the rear of the stage before striking him. Livingston also says that he was seriously injured in the attack.

Lawsuits brought against the city of Bridgeport and the Arena at Harbor Yard by Livingston are still pending.
