Common has landed a role in the forthcoming film 24 Hours To Live, according to Variety.
The Chicago rapper-actor joins a cast that also includes Xu Qing and Ethan Hawke.
24 Hours To Live tells the story of a long-time assassin who has a chance at redemption after he’s temporarily brought back to life by his employer after being killed on the job.
The Brian Smrz-directed project is set to start filming in South Africa next month.

Common, who won the Academy Award for original song for the title track of the 2014 film Selma, appeared in Barbershop: The Next Cut, which was released last month. Some of his other recent acting roles include appearances in 2015’s Entourage and Run All Night, as well as 2013’s Now You See Me and Pawn.
The rapper, who released his acclaimed Nobody’s Smiling album in 2014, is also set to appear in the forthcoming Suicide Squad and John Wick: Chapter Two films, both of which are slated for release later this year.
