Lil Yachty says Lil B put him on to Bernie Sanders.

With the presidential race heating up, Atlanta-based rapper Lil Yachty recently took time to talk politics with CNN. The musician immediately voiced his support for Bernie Sanders, and refused to bash any other candidates, given his “positive” energy.

“Vote for Sanders, okay? We gonna keep it positive,” Lil Yachty said. “I’m not negative. Right now I’m rooting for Bernie Sanders. It’s just not because he was with the Civil Rights Movement, but just everything he stands for.”

When asked how he first became aware of Sanders, Lil Yachty revealed that it was fellow artist, Lil B who put him on to the politician. Lil B voiced his support for Sanders and his presidential campaign nearly one year ago.

Sanders has since gained support from a number of those in the Hip Hop community, including Killer Mike, T.I., and Rae Sremmurd.

“I heard about Bernie Sanders through Lil B cause Lil B was supporting so much, and it made me check him out…A lot of my fans tell me all the time, they don’t feel like their voice matters,” he said. “I think people just following the masses. And I don’t think they even really know what each side holds. By next election hopefully I’ll have such–not power, but I’ll be on a level where I can step out and talk about it. And I wanna say it’s important that you vote. Just to get out there. Everybody’s voice matters…At least take the time to do some homework on what’s going on.”
