In 1992, Ronald Ray Howard was cruising in his car when he was pulled over by Texas State Trooper Bill Davidson. Howard was listening to a 2 Pac CD at the time. Enraged with anger, due to the stop, he shot Davidson with a 9mm pistol in the neck. Davidson died three days later due to his injuries.
At Howard’s trial his defense team argued that the Tupac CD Howard listened to was responsible for the shooting. Howard was 18 at the time of the shooting
Approximately one hour before Howard was escorted to the death chamber; the U.S. Supreme Court denied blocking Howard’s execution. A week earlier, the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole refused to reduce his sentence to life in prison.
Howard’s final statement before receiving his death sentence by lethal injection stated to Davidson’s family, “This helps a little. I don’t know how, but I hope it helps.”

He also thanked his friends and family and two of his youngest children by saying “I love you all, thank you so much.”
