RapFest is known for its cyphers and now the online publication is expanding to produce live performances.
“Definitely bridging that gap between the online presence and physically experiencing an artist through a live set,” CEO Mave says exclusively to HipHopDX. “I think it makes a big difference. Some guys are about live presentation which kind of brings out the music even more.”
RapFest’s first event, which Mave says will continue the company’s mission of showcasing upcoming talent, will be a concert August 6 in New York. K Camp, will be the headliner. Retchy P, who is also performing, is an artist who Mave says exemplifies the type of energy that the company wants to feature.
“His stage presence is just amazing,” Mave says of the New Jersey rapper. “He’s considered one of the top performers that’s emerging, literally. This guy, he’s so extreme. He’s jumping in the crowd, he’s jumping on people’s back. It’s an experience. We kind of wanted to bring that to life. Just taking guys that are always on the verge of breaking or already broke and basically just using that as a platform to present the emerging guys that are up next.”

Other artists slated to perform include Manolo Rose, Chad B, Cashflow, & Jamel Castro and special guests.
RapFest is partnering with DJ Suss One from Power 105.1, Taxstone from MTV’s Uncommon Sense and 40 Oz Van.
“40 oz Van has a good reputation,”he says. “He really connects well with the culture.”
HipHopDX will be partnering with Rap Fest for the meet and greet prior to the event. Details coming soon.

RapFest hopes this concert is the first of many more. Mave says that similar events are in the works for Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and Florida. The company is exploring the venture of mini-tours with pop-up shops. Another idea RapFest is hoping to implement in the merchandise business is artist partnerships with stores. The first will be with Philly producer, Jahlil Beats.
“Let’s just say, it’s Philly, which is where he’s from, if Meek Mill is in town or anybody relevant in that town,” Mave says, “they’ll invite them into the store to just kind of connect with the fans even more. That all kind of obviously helps the store boosts its brand.”
