Coke Boys rapper Chinx (born Lionel Pickens) was shot and killed in Queens early this morning (May 17), according to a statement from his management group.

Chinx, who was 31 at the time of his death, was a part of French Montana’sCoke Boys collective and appeared frequently on a series of mixtapes titled Coke Boysand released his own mixtape series called Cocaine Riot.

Details on his murder remain scarce but the emcee was reportedly inside a vehicle in the Jamaica section of Queens when he was shot by a still-unknown gunman, according to AllHipHop.

“Chinx was one of the most talented, professional, and determined rappers this industry had to offer,” said Legion Media Group publicist Chanel Rae. “Further more, he was a friend.”

UPDATE: CBS 2 News is reporting that police have taken at least two men into custody for their involvement in the murder of Chinx.

Yesterday (May 17), NYPD’s SWAT team reportedly raided the house located on 2436 Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway, Queens. Police have yet to determine whether the men in custody are indeed the culprits.
