Rich Homie Quan turned himself in to Miami Beach police custody yesterday (April 7), NBC reports.
The “New Atlanta” rapper (born Dequantes Lamar) is facing a battery charge that stems from his involvement in an alleged assault that took place at Club Liv on March 23 in Miami.
According to NBC’s South Florida affiliate, Quan was booked into a Miami-Dade jail yesterday evening. The rapper is expected to face a misdemeanor charge of simple battery.
Quan’s attorney Rick Corona spoke to reporters on his clients behalf.

“There’s a civil suit that’s been filed,” Corona said. “It’s all about monetary gain, taking advantage of a celebrity and that’s the whole situation. That’s why we’re here and the truth will come out. The truth will come out. Our client is innocent and the truth will come out…our client did not throw any punches and the truth will come out.”
If convicted, under Florida law, Quan could face up to one year in jail or 12 months probation and a $1,000 fine.
