Lil’ Kim owes the federal government $126, 725.12 in back taxes after failing to pay taxes since 2010, according to Life & Style.

The IRS filed a lien against the 39-year-old on September 22.

Earlier this year, Lil’ Kim was in financial trouble with her former counsel.

“Four months ago, she was sued for failing to pay her former law firm, Dewey & LeBoeuf, $186,217.93 for five years of legal services,” the article says. “A judge ruled in the firm’s favor, ordering Kim to pay the sum — with interest.”

Kim reportedly had a tax bill over a $1 million dating from 2002-2009.

Lil’ Kim, who released the Hard Core 2k14 mixtape in late September, is one of several Hip Hop artists to face the IRS in recent years.

In early 2014, Young Money artist Lil Wayne was reported to owe more than $12 million to the IRS, after already having paid $7,000,000 to the IRS for his 2008-2009 bill.

In March, it was ordered that California rapper Tyga reportedly owed over $90,000 to the IRS.

In a 2013 report, HipHopDX highlighted some simple reasons that rappers find themselves in trouble with the taxman.

“I don’t think anyone is going to unearth a cause for Hip Hop’s tax problem that doesn’t fall under the umbrella of the usual reasons any entertainer finds themselves in the red—pure negligence, lack of information and/or a philosophical opposition to paying taxes,” the story says.

Rapper Mitchy Slick offered some advice for artists making money off of rap.

“A lot of rappers just start to get money when they start rapping, so they don’t really know what to do with no money,” says Mitchy Slick. “But before I was paying taxes for Rap, I was paying taxes for getting money doing regular stuff already. I was owning homes and all that before I ever had a chance to pay some taxes on some Rap shit or something like that. Really, what you gotta do is get you one man—somebody that’s reputable—and you just put it in his hands and pay him. It’s gone cost you a little more, but you just pay the guy to stay on top of your taxes.”
