Nicki Minaj says her upcoming album, The Pink Print, is going to be a “blueprint for female rappers to come,” in a new interview with Fader.
While the album is meant to be an example for others to follow, Minaj says she’s thoughtful about in other facets of her life.
“Every time I do a business venture or something that isn’t the norm for a female rapper, I pat myself on the back,” she says. “It’s important that corporate America can see a young Black woman being able to sell things outside of music…A female rapper! With HSN!”
Despite feeling like she’s risen in the industry, Minaj says she still doesn’t feel like Lil Wayne’s peer.

“I don’t think I’ll ever feel like he’s my peer because of how much he’s done for me,” she says. I’ll always think of him like…Like the king.”
