While on the set of his Complex cover shoot, Atlanta rapper Young Thug offered up his five favorite Lil Wayne songs for the magazine.
Beginning with a Kanye West and Deezle produced track from Wayne’s 2008 album Tha Carter III, Young Thug said he picked “‘Let The Beat Build’ because [Lil Wayne] honestly let the beat build.” That song, which appeared as the tenth track on the album, was a follow-up to the Kanye and Wayne’s previous collaborations like “Comfortable” and “Did It Before.”
“‘No Problems,’ because I feel the same way,” Young Thug said for his second pick, seemingly referencing Lil Wayne’s “Steady Mobbin” which features Gucci Mane. “They don’t want no problems,” he added. “Steady Mobbin’” appeared on the first Young Money compilation album, We Are Young Money, in 2009.
“‘Eat You Alive,’ just sound weird,” Young Thug said. “Eat You Alive” appeared as the first full track on Lil Wayne’s 2008 mixtape The Drought Is Over 6.

Returning to the We Are Money compilation for a second selection, Young Thug listed “Ms. Parker” as another favorite. “Ms. Parker,” which was produced by Tha Bizness, also features Young Money rappers Gudda Gudda and Mack Maine.
Switching lanes for his last choice, Young Thug named a yet-to-be-released track called “Ill” which he says he himself features on.
Earlier today, Complex magazine released an interview with Birdman in which the Cash Money Records co-founder described his connection to Young Thug. “I know he a big fan of Wayne,” Birdman said. “And we embrace Thug [as] our little brother. We come from the projects, New Orleans. That lifestyle we come from. I wanted to do better for me. To do better for them. To do better for us. When I see Thug he come from that same cloth. From these streets. And I see an opportunity to help him change not just his life, [but] his family’s life, his homies’ life. And make a difference in this world. And it’s through music, something that I’m powerful in. And I wouldn’t do nothing but bless him in every way possible. I’mma do everything within my powers to make him as big as he possibly can be and want to be.”
