All-Star point guard and this year’s Slam Dunk champion John Wall has successfully campaigned for a young 5-year old cancer patient to meet her idol Nicki Minaj.
According to MTV, a young girl with Stage 3B Burkitt’s lymphoma has wanted to meet her favorite star, Nicki Minaj, without success despite involved community efforts. The girl, who’s first name is Miyah, has undergone as many as seven chemotherapy treatments as well as spinal taps and dialysis according to the Washington Post and continues to face complications stemming from the regimen. Apparently driven by the cause, Washington Wizards’ point guard John Wall has recently put his own star-power to use in an effort to fulfill Miyah’s wish to meet Nicki and don one of her associated pink wigs.
The 6’4” tall Slam Dunk champ took to his own social media pages to help push Miyah’s campaign with the hashtags #HelpMiyahMeetNicki and #PinkWigForMiyah attached. The basketball player also used his Instagram account to post a short video featuring himself and the young cancer patient which is available below.

With Wall’s extra push, Nicki Minaj seems to have acknowledged the request with a Tweet referring to Miyah as a “pretty little princess” as well as a reposting of Wall’s original Instagram post to her own account.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Wall explained his motivation to help promote Miyah’s campaign. “I had an opportunity with my celebrity status, knowing people that know people, to help this girl’s dream come true,” he said. “I knew [Minaj] had a caring heart, and when she had an opportunity to see it or read about it, I knew she’d reach out as soon as she could. I just thank my fans, everybody who retweeted it and reposted it, to give me the opportunity to make this girl’s wish come true. And we’ll try to make it happen…I’m a shy person, I’m real quiet, but it was great,” Wall said. “You never want to miss an opportunity to put a smile on a kid’s face.”
