Remaining the sad clown of music, there are numerous song-writing contests that don’t allow hip-hop submissions. The International Songwriting Competition is not one of them. Last year they added an R&B/Hip-Hop category. The winner just happened to be one of Boston’s finest, Akrobatik.

The contest is not only a great way to get some recognition in the industry, but you can win some dough while you’re at it. Winners share in a $100,000 pool of cash and prizes. Winners will be included in an extensive publicity campaign, various industry showcases, and make an appearance on a compilation CD that is highly requested by A&R representatives, publishers, radio stations, and members of the press.

Among the judges of this years competition are Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, and Macy Gray. For submission guidelines, please visit www.songwritingcompetition.com
